What Is Mission Interpretation?
Have you ever written a check to a charity…and felt let down? Somehow just giving money doesn’t seem effective enough. You send a donation, you receive a thank-you letter, but no change is visible to you. You wish you could do more. The Metropolitan New York Synod’s Mission Interpretation ministry aims to transform that feeling by acting as a bridge between the work of the church and the thousands of people who fund that work. This is our effort to help you feel more connected to the synod. Mission interpretation boils down to telling the stories: the stories of how God is working through us, through our local congregations, even through our national and global church. Through a network of mission interpreters, our goal is to lift up the stunning stories of ministry that are taking place every day throughout our synod. The point is that you are part of a wider church, a church whose ministries reach from your neighborhood to span the globe, and this is a mission you can be proud of. Mission interpretation is intended to prove that changes are indeed occurring and that the church is in action, many thanks to you.
