Our synod brandmark reflects that we are an expression of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The emblem is a graphic representation of the ELCA mission statement: marked by the cross of Christ forever, we are claimed, gathered, and sent for the sake of the world.
When using our brandmark, it should be used in its entirety
- Proportions should remain consistent to the original design and not be distorted, redrawn, or recomposed.
- Alternate fonts should not be used as a substitute for the typographic elements within the mark.
- The mark should not be used on a background that would interfere with the legibility or readability.
When refering to our synod, it is preferred to use Metropolitan New York Synod without abbreviations.
If you have questions about our synod's logo and its usage, please email Rebekah Thornhill.
All ELCA congregations are encouraged to use ELCA branding for their own communications. Affirming your alignment with the ELCA makes an important statement within your congregation and to the world. It shows that our individual congregations are part of a larger community, and that we are called together to do God’s work. A brandmark template is available here. If your congregation has its own brandmark, include the following text: A congregation of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
