Rediscovering the Small Catechism

rose

This new resource was first used at our 2016 Synod Council Retreat and is now available for your own use. The uniqueness of this resource is that in enfolds the language of the Small Catechism into the worship practices the Catechism addresses, such that the Catechism is experienced within worship, and not so much the classroom.

This resource also creates conversational avenues through which to make the themes of the Small Catechism personal, thus serving well the ends of faith and discipleship formation. In advance of the event, you may want to ask participants to sign up to offer testimonies or be the readers. There are many opportunities for a variety of voices.

This resource is ideal for use in one-day or overnight retreat settings. It can also be adapted for use as a seven-part series, appropriate for midweek Bible Studies or Sunday Education Forums.

In terms of audience, this resource can serve confirmation instruction for youth as well as new member instruction for adults and families. It also makes for a great refresher experience for life-long Lutherans.
