The Metropolitan New York Synod is committed to confronting the sin of racism and dismantling the personal and systemic walls that divide, hurt and oppress God’s children.
In 2015, the Synod Assembly adopted a resolution committing to training as many people in our synod as possible in anti-racism. This training is bilingual and will be presented in Spanish and English. Unlike previous trainings which covered systemic racism generally, this training will have a particular focus on recognizing and combatting the internalization of racism within communities of color.
This is for leaders in our church: all elected and volunteer synodical leaders; synodical boards, committees, teams; rostered leaders, synodically-rostered leaders, candidates in the call process, congregation call committees, and staff. Registration is encouraged for those who have yet to attend a training but is also open to those who would like to deepen their engagement by attending a second time.
