Synod Office Chapel

In the Lutheran tradition, church happens when the Holy Spirit brings God’s people together around Word and Sacrament. So as an expression of church, the synod cannot simply be about administrative business. Therefore, synod staff and guests gather regularly around the means of grace in Word and Sacrament.

In fact, the synod maintains a chapel in the synod’s office space on the 16th floor of The Interchurch Center at 475 Riverside Drive in New York City. This dedicated space is a call to remember that our faith is central to what we do. Staff, synod members who come for meetings, and visitors gather daily for prayer and intercession for the people and ministries of the synod and wider church. They also celebrate Holy Communion every week and for mid-week festivals and lesser festivals.

Individuals and groups can also use the chapel. Please contact the Assistant to the Bishop for Formation if you are interested.
