Lutheran Counseling Center

2025 Lutheran Counseling Center Partner Report

Pastor Michale Staneck, Board President

The Lutheran Counseling Center's primary mission has been to make faith-based individual and family psychotherapy available for people in need of healing. Each year, the LCC's 22 licensed mental health counselors provide around 5000 sessions to people in New York City, Long Island, Westchester and New Jersey. Our telehealth platform increases the reach of our counselors allowing them to meet with anyone in need throughout New York and New Jersey. The LCC is a pan Lutheran organization and supports both the ELCA and the LCMS. These partnerships include providing trustworthy and specialized resources for each of these communities. As first responders, we delivered critical mental care following 9/11, Super Storm Sandy and the Covid pandemic. We remain a constant, confidential source of support for our church workers including pastors, teachers and synod wide leaders.

The Lutheran Counseling Center now accepts Medicare payments for our clients over 65. Additionally, this allows us to be available to another cohort of people who are eligible for Social Security Disability. Most major insurance companies will reimburse mental health sessions. Also, we have an in-person presence at many of our sites, as well as an extensive tele-health availability.

The community can help The Lutheran Counseling Center by referring people in need to our Center. Please encourage and invite congregations to join our partnership in ministry as an Association Congregations. This membership allows congregations to receive subsidized counseling fees for congregants. Please contact the Lutheran Counseling Center at [email protected] or [email protected] to receive more information.
