The election of a new bishop is reason to celebrate, which we will do on Saturday, November 16, at 2:00 pm. It is important to remember that in addition to serving in and on behalf of your synod, our newly elected bishop serves on behalf of the whole Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Therefore, we welcome Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, who will preach and preside.
In worship, as we install Bishop Egensteiner, we will celebrate Christ’s presence in Word and Sacrament. The Metropolitan New York Synod enjoys God’s blessing of rich diversity, for we are united in Christ.
We are also one Church among many churches and faith traditions in the greater metro NY area. Thus, our synod will also welcome representatives of the wider Church, including our full communion partners along with leaders of other religious traditions with whom we serve the common good.
We are pleased to gather at the historic Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine; the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and chartered as a house of prayer for all people. We are most grateful for their hospitality.
A reception at which you may greet our new bishop and one another, will follow the liturgy. Please join us in this celebration of our ministry together!

Judicatory Heads, Bishops, and Ordained Ministers of Word and Sacrament, and of Word and Service, are invited to vest and process. The color of the day is red. Those participating in the procession should gather at the cathedral at 1 p.m.
