Our Work

In 2019, as a conference, we met prior to the Synod Assembly to inform our representatives about the election process for bishop, and then we worshipped together at a special service of “Prayers for Discernment & Guidance,” to guide our voting.

There continues to be a strong level of participation of the conference clergy at our weekly pericope study.

We hold an Easter Vigil service that is open to the conference, at Grace Lutheran (North Bellmore). We’ve held joint service projects and youth activities, and we promote the various special services and events going on in our sister churches throughout the conference.

We have a very faithful, conference-wide WELCA group that rotates among our churches, for a monthly Bible study.

Our conference is in the midst of a great deal of transition. We’ve welcomed the gifts of two new pastoral colleagues: The Rev. Nancy Rakoczy of St. John Lutheran (Bellmore), and The Rev. Rebecca Sheridan of Faith Lutheran (Syosset), we’ve sadly bade farewell to one colleague and former dean, The Rev. Emily Trubey-Weller of St. Stephen’s Lutheran (Hicksville), and we are preparing for the departure of two colleagues in 2020, who have announced their upcoming retirements: Pastor Ron Klose of Our Redeemer Lutheran (Seaford) and Pastor Martin Nale of Christ Lutheran (Wantagh). Please keep our conference in your prayers as we celebrate the ministries of these faithful servants, as well as seek the Spirit’s guidance as we begin new chapters in our ministry in Eastern Nassau.

We Are Church Together

The Eastern Nassau Conference is blessed with a strong sense of connectedness within our congregations, fostered by a healthy collegiality amongst our pastors. We support each other’s ministries, we cooperate and collaborate when possible, and we hold each other in prayer.
