The Lutheran Girls' Camp Association operates
Camp Ma-He-Tu, a summer camp for girls, and is affiliated with and has been serving MNYS Synod youth every summer since 1937! Deep in the woods of beautiful Harriman State Park, on the shores of Lake Kanawauke (just 40 miles north of NYC), Camp Ma-He-Tu has been the home away from home for generations of young women.
Ma-He-Tu's mission is to provide a safe and fun outdoor camping experience in a supportive environment that fosters mental, spiritual, physical, and social growth. During each affordable, 2-week overnight session, campers enjoy an exciting mix of traditional summer camp activities focusing on individual development, teamwork, and empowerment. Campers can expect to meet over 100 new friends each summer and form relationships that last a lifetime. As the camp song goes, "Once you've come, Ma-He-Tu stays within your heart forever"!
