"It filled my heart with such joy that we had the opportunity to gather safely together again as the faithful people of the Metropolitan New York Synod on June 19, to celebrate two Setting Apart of Synod Deacons services — for the class of 2020 and 2021 — and the Ordination of three women: Martha María Cruz, Abigail Marie Ferjak, and Dawn Ann Morello. As invited guests entered St. Peter’s Church, Huntington Station, I was overwhelmed with a sense of togetherness and devotion that I had missed so genuinely and felt so proud to be part of such a diverse community of faith. I am looking optimistically into the future as we enter the other side of this pandemic and can gather together once more." — Bishop Egensteiner
